Design

For the G Series M2, M3 and M4, this intake system has been developed as a complete upgrade of both the intake tract and turbo inlets.

The system incorporates enlarged turbo inlets alongside a redesigned intake system to maximise airflow to the turbochargers. In addition to the factory frontal air feed, two additional cold air feeds have been incorporated, creating a total of three cold air feeds per side.

The first feed utilises the factory frontal inlet, while the second feed draws air from a frontal location tested to receive only ambient air temperatures. The third feed further increases available airflow, ensuring the maximum volume of cool air reaches the intake system.

The result is improved throttle response, increased low-end torque, smoother power delivery, and a more pronounced induction sound under load.

CFD Analysis

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was used throughout the development process.

Testing showed smooth, non-turbulent airflow through the intake system, allowing the filters and venturi inlet tubes to operate efficiently while drawing large volumes of air at high speed. Together, the filter and inlet tube design effectively create one of the largest velocity stack arrangements available in an aftermarket intake system.

Enlarged Turbo Inlets

The enlarged turbo inlets feature a flared design that is significantly larger than the OEM components.

Designed to increase airflow and smooth airflow transition into the turbocharger impellers, the larger inlet diameter helps improve turbocharger efficiency and response.

Triple Air Feed

Considerable development time was spent optimising the ducting system to incorporate three separate cold air feeds.

This design allows the system to maintain intake temperatures comparable to the factory intake system while significantly increasing available airflow.

High Flow Air Filters & Intake Temperatures

The bespoke short-stack air filters feature a large 170mm (6¾") opening and a surface area greater than conventional cone filter designs.

Positioned in front of the inlet tubes, the filters help direct airflow towards the outer walls of the intake tract while creating an exceptionally large velocity stack effect.

Performance Testing

Dyno testing was carried out under strict controlled conditions on an independent Dyno Dynamics dynamometer.

The results shown compare the highest stock run (Run 7) against the first run immediately after installation of the intake system (Run 8).

Recorded Gains
